Brazil Climate and Ecological Transformation Investment Platform can support the achievement of Brazil's climate goals by increasing investment in support of the ecological transformation and transition plans in key sectors.

Mobilize large-scale climate-aligned investment pipelines across renewable energy, restoration, bioeconomy, and low-carbon industry, by consolidating public finance, private capital, and multilateral contributions under the BIP (Brazil Climate and Ecological Transformation Investment Platform) framework.

Establish robust governance and pipeline mechanisms to accelerate project readiness and bankability.

Status

Moderate Progress

Brazil has positioned BIP as its flagship platform to mobilize large-scale climate and ecological investments, aiming to channel both domestic and international capital into strategic sectors aligned with national transformation plans.

The BIP Secretariat was established at BNDES in October 2024, with governance coordinated by the Ministry of Finance and support from sectoral ministries.

A Steering Committee is guiding regulatory streamlining, strategic planning, and project pipeline development to align financing flows with national climate priorities.

The platform targets three pillars: Nature-Based Solutions & Bioeconomy, Industry & Mobility, and Energy, including renewables, microgrids, and offshore wind.

Initial pilots were launched to attract financing for green hydrogen, low-carbon steel, and sustainable fuels, with an ambition to mobilize around US$10.8 billion, though concrete mobilization data is still pending.
